Flooding during rainy season washed out the road. The project
was designed to make the road passable, even under knee-deep
water by building a 5m x 60m causeway, or submersible bridge.

This photo shows a sick woman being carried. Many villages were
cut off from medical care, markets and services during the rainy season,
the season when disease prevention is most critical.
